1 Item, 2 Ways

February 27, 2015
Since a majority of us don't have an unlimited expense account for a Kardashian sized wardrobe, we need to become creative with our pieces.  I'm starting a list of items that I tend to style in both a formal and casual way, hoping to impart a bit of styling knowledge onto you.  Here's a tunic that I found at my local Clothes Mentor (I highly recommend consignment shopping if you're on a budget!).

I've worn this outfit out on a weekend shopping, Here it's paired with my black, faux leather Old Navy leggings and some Keds.

Inspired by how it was styled at the store, I decided to try putting together a look for work, swapping out the bottom and shoes.

Paired with some J Crew skimmer trousers and my favorite pointy black pumps, this look was perfect for work.  I didn't even change any of the jewelry!

Check out all the detail pics below (photo cred to Rob Jones....the hubs)

When you're thinking about pants for the tucked look, pick a pair that is a little more loose, since the extra fabric will show on a more fitted pair.

Well, I hope you guys like this tip!  What are some pieces you have in your wardrobe you'd like tips on styling??

Oscar Bests and Worsts

February 23, 2015
I'm a pretty faithful Awards Season devotee and the Oscars are my Super Bowl.  With a new baby around, Rob and I weren't able to get to see as many of the Best Picture nominees as we normally would, but we look forward to watching them at home on our comfy couch.

I was a little disappointed by the E! Red Carpet this year, I know it was raining, but there were basically no interviews.

Here are my pics for least favorite looks:

I have LOVED Emma Stone's previous Globes and SAG looks and was hoping she'd come in something more edgy.  I just didn't love this color.

Gwyneth was giving me some major SJP in SATC with the huge bow.  Just didn't love it, the color did remind me of her Shakespeare in Love win dress.

Again, with Lupita...last year she KILLED on the red carpet, and this year has been miss after miss.  I felt the full beaded look was really heavy looking.

And here are my pics for best looks:

In my mind, Cate can do no wrong.  She is flawless, loved that she kept it really basic and let that necklace do all the talking.

Rosamund was looking so fierce in this full red look.  She had been wearing a lot of neutral on the carpet so far, but tonight she was channeling Jessica Rabbit.

Zoe JUST HAD A BABY....two actually, I think.  Yes, the straps could have gone, but if she's breastfeeding, those things need some support!!  She has an amazing new mom glow.

Finally, she's not my best, but not my worst....but I had to give another shout out to Scarlett Johansson.  That woman also just had a baby....and look at that waist!  You go girl.

All Dressed Up, With Someplace to Go

February 22, 2015
Friday, Rob and I attended his company's Award Ceremony and Gala.....it gave me a chance to get dressed up and let loose, having a night away from parenthood.  I rented a dress from Rent the Runway, a Theia gown that I thought was formal, but without looking like I was going to prom.  My hair was inspired by Julianne Hough circa 2013 Golden Globes...which I did myself, so I wasn't too concerned with it looking professional.  I was rocking some basic gold flat sandals and some gold bangles.
